WILL: In the name of God Amen. I Benjamin Clardy of Nottoway County do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form Following to wit--

First I lend unto my Beloved Wife Melicent Clardy all my Negros and one half of the stock of all kind and one half, of my household and kitchen furniture and all my Plantation utensils and one third of the Land and Plantation and houses where on I now live on During her life or womanhood in lieu of her dower all above mentioned.

I give and bequeath unto my Beloved son Henry Clardy on half of my stock of horses and cattle and hogs and one half of my household and kitchen furniture and my two girls the land and Plantation where on I now live on and all my land that lies over the Northside of Wintermake Creek all which I give to him and his heirs for ever--

I give and bequeath unto my son William Clardy the land and the plantation where on he now lives and fifty acres joining of it Beginning at William Wells line and running a west cors to a corner line between the land whereon I now live and the land that my son Henry Clardy purchased of Joseph Bevil all which I give to him and his heirs for ever--

I give and bequeath to my beloved Daughter Sally Norman Butler one feather bed to her and her heirs for ever--

I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Sally Norman Butler a Daughter of Melicent Butler one Negro girl by the name of Succka after the death of her Grand Mother Clardy but if the said Sally Norman Butler should die before she marries or comes of age I will and desire that the said Negro girl should return to my son William Clardy to him and his heirs for ever--

Item I lend a equal part of my Negros to my beloved daughter Judy Graves after the death of my wife Meleincent Clardy during my daughter Judys life and after the death for them to be equally divided between their heirs for ever--

Item I lend a equal part of my Negro to_____ ______ after the death of my wife Meliecent Clardy During his life and after his death for them to be equally divided between my _____ _____ heirs to them and their heirs for ever--

Item I lend to John Butler and my daughter Sally Norman Butler a equal part of my Negros during their lives after the death of my wife Milicent Clardy and after the death of the said John Butler and his wife Sally Norman Butler that they maybe equally divided between heirs of her Body all which I give to them and their heirs for ever--

I will and desire after the death of my wife Mellicent Clardy that the Negro girl and her increases that my son John Clardy has in his possession that the name of Margaret and the one that my son William Clardy has in his possession by the name of Silva she and her increases and a Boy that my son Benjamin Clardy has in his possession by the name of Peter all them Negros I will and desire that they should be brought into a equal Divisions but if any one or all of my said before mentioned they may be
paying those values for them and these increases. I will and desire that all my sons have a equal part of my Negros them or their heirs--

I give and bequeth unto my son Benjamin and William and Henry Clardy the half of the stock of all kinds household and kitchen furniture and plantation utensils to be equally divided between the before mentioned three sons after the death of my wife that which I lent her all which I give to them and their heirs forever--

At the time his will was written in 1791, BC I owned the following property which he disposed of in his will: livestock--horses cattle, and hogs, household and kitchen furniture, plantation utensils, land, plantation and houses, land on the north side of Wintermake Creek, land and plantation and 50 acres (beginning at William Wells' line and running a west course to a corner line between the land where BC I lived and the land Henry Clardy purchased of Joseph Bevil) where his son William lived, a feather bed, and Negroes: Succka (girl); negro girl and her increases in the possesion of son John Clardy; Margaret; Silva and her increases; a boy Peter in the possession of son Benjamin; and others unspecified.

In the name of God Amen. I Millicent Clardy of the county and parish of Nottoway, being of sick and weak body but of a sound imposing mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, To wit, Imprimis I give and bequesth unto my Grand daughter Sally Norman Butler my blue chest and all my wearing apperril of every nature or kind whatsoever. Then my Will and desire is that myjust debts shall be paid out of my crop of corn wheat and tobacco now on hand and the residue of my said crop together with all my stock of cattle, sheep, and hogs my feather bed & furniture and all the rest of my household and kitchen furniture, not already disposed of and plantation utensils of
